Robert J. and Pamela Morganti Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Receives Prestigious Designation

The Danbury Hospital Robert J. and Pamela Morganti Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine was recently designated as one of only four facilities in Connecticut to be accredited by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). This represents a significant milestone for Danbury Hospital. Based on a rigorous review process, the UHMS awarded the accreditation of the hospital’s clinical hyperbaric facility for the demonstration of its commitment to patient care and facility safety.

The Importance of Wound Care Accreditation
The accreditation brings many benefits to the hospital, including ongoing education and training for staff. Continuous improvement, combined with a contemporary standardized approach to wound treatment, improves the patient experience, leads to better patient outcomes, and can also save related care costs by avoiding hospital admissions. “It was clear from our review of Danbury Hospital that their team is fully invested in caring for their patients and that they meet or exceed our demanding standards for quality of care and patient safety," said UHMS’s Director, Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs, Tom Workman.
David Charash, DO, Medical Director for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine shared, “We continue to look for innovative ways to improve our quality and safety. Our team strives to not only improve the patient’s health, but also their lifestyle and quality of life. The UHMS accreditation review is comprehensive and provides us with unique learning opportunities so we are always improving how we care for our patients.”
