New Organization Structure for Network Operations

As a member of the Medical Staff you have an important stake in the organizational changes in hospital operations that have resulted from the affiliations.
With the affiliation of the three hospitals now complete, I would like to inform you of the organizational structure developed for the operations division within the hospital group. The new structure functions to ensure local senior operational support at each hospital, while fostering integrative collaboration among all of the clinical service departments and locations throughout the Network. As Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the Network I am responsible for the operations of all of the clinical service lines and facilities. I will be spending roughly three days a week at Danbury Hospital, two days a week at Norwalk Hospital, and some days at New Milford Hospital.
I have appointed three senior operations leaders to oversee each facility and multiple service lines: Deborah Weymouth, Sr. VP of New Milford Hospital and Chief Integration Officer, Debra Carragher, VP of Operations for Danbury Hospital, and Jim Haynes, VP of Operations for Norwalk Hospital.
Deborah Weymouth will continue to have operational oversight of New Milford Hospital and will also be responsible for the integration efforts that continue to exist at New Milford Hospital, while adding to her responsibilities the integration efforts of Norwalk Hospital.
Debra Carragher will have operational oversight of Danbury Hospital and will have Network oversight for Medicine Services, Surgical Services, and Women’s and Children’s services at all three Hospital locations and two ambulatory surgical center locations.  Although a search is under way for an Executive Director for Medicine Services, Ed Staunton has been named the Executive Director for the Network’s Surgical Services and Paul Mortensen has been named the Administrative Director for the Network’s Women’s and Children’s Services. Both Ed and Paul will report directly to Debra for their respective service areas.
Jim Haynes has been newly appointed in his role and will have operational responsibilities for Norwalk Hospital and will have Network oversight of Radiology, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Corporate and Occupational Health and Behavioral Health services at all three Hospital locations and four free-standing, full service radiology centers. ToniAnn Marchione has been named the Administrative Director for Radiology and Laboratory Services for the Network, Robert Bepko has been named the Administrative Director for Corporate and Occupational Health, and Steve McNerney has been named Administrative Director for Outpatient Behavioral Health Services. ToniAnn, Robert, and Steve will report directly to Jim for their respective areas.
I have also appointed Jean Huntington Executive Director for Cancer services and Kelli Stock Executive Director for Cardiovascular Services.  Jean and Kelli’s roles have expanded to include strategic and operational oversight of the Cancer Center and Cardiovascular Center respectively across the three Hospitals.
Terry Manning has accepted the Administrative Director role for a newly formed Department of Operational Excellence.  This Department will focus on project management and the improvement in operational performance across the Network.  Terry’s department will support the clinical service lines in optimizing performance standards in physician and patient satisfaction, operations, workflow and cost reduction and within the service lines.
I am confident that we have put together an excellent team of experienced administrators to help lead our new organization.  I will work with you and this team to insure that we all respond to your needs and those of your practice and patients. Please contact me with any comments or questions you may have regarding the new structure and the planned operational support for clinical services.
