As the next step in completing the McGraw Ambulatory Pavilion, the new Guthrie Center for Digestive Diseases is scheduled to open in late July. Patients will continue to enter the hospital through the McGraw Center entrance to check in for their visit.
The Medical Staff Advisory Council met on June 7. John Murphy, MD, the President and CEO of WCHN, joined us for an open conversation. Topics of conversation included the PHO, our OB facilities, the marketing campaign, how to improve communication between the Hospital/Network and our physicians, how to alert all of our physicians to the variety of programs and services provided by our physicians and the Network, the Network urgent care strategy, the potential impact of Stamford Hospital’s new building, how to optimize communication with PCPs from the inpatient physicians and ED, and our telehealth initiatives.
The Primary Care Summit occurred on June 1. Richard Gemming, the new Executive Director of the Western Connecticut Medical Group, gave an introductory presentation about the newly formed Primary Care service line. This service line was formed to help WCHN continue its transition to value based care and will seek to develop population centered approaches to primary care through a variety of strategies involving both the employed and voluntary primary care physicians on the NH Medical Staff.
The search for a new Chair of Surgery continues full force. The Search Committee hopes to make a recommendation over the next few weeks.
