Hospital Conducts First "Spirit of Women - Day of Dance"
Health Literacy and Patient Safety
Danbury Hospital will conduct the first "Spirit of Women - Day of Dance" program focused on promoting cardiovascular health and generally, women’s wellness. The "Day of Dance" event, a business-driver for both physicians and Danbury Hospital, is scheduled for Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 12 noon to 4 pm. at the Danbury Fair Mall (Center Court) where various health screenings will begin at noon. (Snow date: Sunday, February 28, 2010, same time and place). "Ask the Doctor" opportunities will be prominent and the event will come with a strong and integrated media and public relations effort.
As health care consumers, women are considered key influencers who drive word of mouth and influence health care decisions of family and friends. Marketing research studies indicate physician participation and interaction with consumers is essential because they are the number one trusted resource for healthcare advice to consumers.
"Day of Dance" is being held during National Heart Month in February, health and wellness events are designed to promote heart health and cardiovascular services that are focused on the latest advances in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular diseases as well as other leading women’s health issues. Although the primary focus is heart health; physician integration at "Day of Dance" encompasses multiple specialties including orthopedics/spine, sleep, bariatrics, diabetes and nutrition amongst other specialty areas.
Since October 2009 when Danbury Hospital presented the inaugural "Spirit of Women - Girls Night Out" and "Spirit Wellness Weekend" at the Danbury Fair Mall, marketing department representatives have signed up 1,500 members. The goal is to secure 200 additional members during “Day of Dance” event and to test scheduling appointments during the event for follow up visits at physician and testing offices.
Danbury Hospital’s "Day of Dance" will promote a variety of health screenings and heart-smart activities and is a perfect opportunity for physicians to interact, face-to-face with the community, while at the same time drive awareness, preference, and utilization of our programs and services.
So please, consider participating at the "Ask the Doc" tables, be a featured program topic presenter, or act as the event’s emcee or moderator. Call 203 739-7462 to learn more about the opportunities that are available to you as a "Spirit of Women - Day of Dance" physician participant.
