Online Medical Record (OMR) system is live
On October 1st 2009, the Health Information Services (HIS) department made the transition from storing paper records to storing a digitized image of each patient medical record.
Advantages to the new OMR include:
Since October the records of discharged patients have be digitized by scanning handwritten pages of the paper record into the Siemens document imaging system and transferring documents created electronically by system such as Soarian Clinicals, Cerner Lab & Radiology and GI Provation directly into the imaging database. Data from many other systems will be interfaced over time and as other clinical systems are implemented throughout the facility.
These changes will help ensure that Danbury Hospital provides state of the art access to patient information to support all aspects of patient care and to meet regulatory requirements. We do recognize that this transition has caused some confusion and inconvenience, for which we apologize. If you or your staff have any questions regarding the new system or need a training refresher session please contact Joyce Rice at 203-739-7103.
