            Dr. Aparna Oltikar Named New Chair of Department of Medicine at Danbury and New Milford Hospitals
            
            Dr. Patricia Tietjen, WCMG Vice President – Medical Affairs announced that Dr. Aparna Oltikar has accepted the position of Chair of the Department of Medicine at Danbury and New Milford Hospitals. Dr. Oltikar received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Harvard University and graduated first in her class at Cornell University Medical College. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at The New York Presbyterian Hospital, Cornell University Medical Center. She was then asked to serve as Chief Medical Resident at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Upon completion of that year, she went into private practice in Litchfield County. After nine years of practicing outpatient Internal Medicine, she made a career switch to Hospital Medicine, first at Charlotte Hungerford, and then joined Danbury Hospital. 
            
            Since coming to Danbury Hospital in 2009, Dr. Oltikar has excelled at patient care and medical education. She has also managed several large initiatives at Danbury Hospital, including the denial management service and the clinical documentation initiative. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, a fellow of the American College of Physicians and has an academic appointment at the University of Vermont College of Medicine.
