Medical Staff Satisfaction Survey
You Spoke – We Listened
There were four key areas of opportunity identified in the survey that clearly need attention.
- How well does Senior Leadership really partner with the Medical Staff?
- How are Medical Staff members recognized and even rewarded for the exceptional things you do?
- How can Senior Leadership communicate with all of you better?
- How can we make Information Technology (the functions, not the people), work with you to make it easier for you to take good care of patients?
We are working on all four and a couple more---here are a few things we’re planning:
- Medical Staff Advisory Council
Develop a Medical Staff Advisory Council with approximately 16-18 medical staff members (community-based, employed, inpatient and associate staff) from each campus. This council will serve as sounding board for all these challenges, a vehicle to improve communication, and a mechanism for more direct partnership. Invitations will go out shortly for a first dinner meeting in May.
- Senior Leadership visibility
Senior Leadership and other guest speakers will attend specific Department and Practice meetings, Medical Group meetings, Chairman Councils, Medical Staff meetings to provide insights into strategic initiatives and to be available to answer questions. We need to listen better and be more visible.
- A formal recognition program
We are developing a formal and regular recognition program to identify, celebrate and thank individuals from all departments for all the great work you do every day.
We are investigating a physician/provider mobile app with customized RSS feed (a format for delivering regularly changing web content) to push relevant (and concise!) content out in a more timely manner. We will couple this with development of a physician portal for bidirectional communication.
Commit to publishing DOC-Line monthly with a greater focus on relevance and brevity.
Although most of you kept quiet about parking, we recognize that at certain times, you can’t find a spot. So... there will be a new gate with limited access installed this spring in Rizzo Garage (south end near the fountain). The ONLY people who can park on the first two levels will be you all and valet parked cars.
This isn’t everything; it won’t be the last you hear about it, and it must be sustaining. The team in charge of this whole endeavor includes myself, Mike Daglio, Eric Jimenez and Joe Carofano. We have partnered with the VPMAs, the Presidents, the Chairs, and the rest of Senior Leadership. Please---let us know if you have ideas or questions.
Thanks
Matt
