New Milford Hospital
The New Milford Hospital Emergency Department tele-psychiatry pilot program got off to a great start. In its first three months of operation, 24 patients presented to the New Milford Hospital Emergency Department with behavioral health needs, and all but one met eligibility criteria for a tele-psychiatry consultation.
Of the 23 patients who received tele-psychiatry consultations, 20 could be discharged directly from the New Milford Hospital Emergency Department with an outpatient follow-up plan in place. Most importantly, patient satisfaction with the program has been very high.
The New Milford Hospital Behavioral Health program has expanded into the adjacent house on Route 202 and is now able to offer group sessions including: Parenting Support, Anxiety/Depression, Chronic Pain/Illness and Women’s Issues.
In March, the New Milford Hospital pharmacy moved into a newly constructed space over the MRI building. The new area provides a substantial increase in much needed space for daily pharmacy operations. It also includes many safety and infection control upgrades, including a new state-of-the-art chemotherapy mixing room that meets the latest USP800 standard for compounding cleanliness.
Congratulations!
On April 6, 2016 New Milford Hospital celebrated 1,000 days with no serious safety events. Hospital employees marked this proud achievement with a hospital-wide celebration.
