			Legislative Update:

Danbury Hospital Medical Staff and Fairfield County Medical Association representatives have met numerous times with various CT state representatives and senators this spring: Final legislative outcomes important to our medical staff:
- H.B. 6687: An Act Concerning Certificate of Merit – DH Medical staff and FCMA opposed allowing any health care provider to sign a Certificate of Merit in a medical liability action instead of a physician with relevant, similar medical background and specialty. Bill did not make it to a final vote (good thing).

- S.B. 1154: An Act Concerning the Accidental Failure of Suit – DH Medical staff and FCMA opposed allowing a plaintiff to re-file a Certificate of Merit, even in cases where the lawyer was grossly negligent for failing to file a proper certificate. This, in essence, would have the effect of extending the statute of limitations for another year. Bill did not make it to a final vote (good thing).

- HB. 6158: An Act Concerning Vaccine Distribution – DH medical staff and FCMA supported allowing physicians a choice where they obtain their vaccine for pediatric patients. Bill did not make it out of committee (not good).

- DH medical staff and FCMA opposed any further decrease in the state’s allocation to the hospitals. The governor’s budget cuts did go through (not good).
