Report from President of the Danbury Hospital Medical Staff

Medical Staff Bylaws Revision:

Integration of the Danbury Hospital and New Milford Hospital Medical Staffs in 2013 has been delayed at this time. (Please see Matt Miller’s CMO Notes above.) Nonetheless, revision of the Danbury Hospital bylaws will commence as scheduled. Please consider reading the proposed bylaws draft to be distributed in August 2013. Also, consider attending one of the bylaws informational sessions that will occur prior to the next General Medical Staff meeting on Thursday, September 12, 2013. Your feedback will be very much appreciated. Issues such as medical staff leadership structure, dues structure, on-call issues, representation on various committees, amongst many other important topics relative to our medical staff will be referenced in the new bylaws. This is your chance to influence the results.

Physician of the Year:

Congratulations to Jamie Bruno, MD of urology for winning the 2013 Fairfield County Medical Association Magida Award. This “Physician of the Year” honor recognizes those physicians under the age of 40 who have demonstrated exemplary medical care, as well as a commitment to advancing the welfare of the community through proactive medical and social agenda items. Dr. Bruno introduced robotic surgery to the Danbury Hospital community in 2007, is a WCHN Foundation Board Member, was on the Surgical Chair Selection Committee, has served on Peer Review Investigational Committees, and was the founder of the United Physicians of Newtown, a group of over 100 Newtown doctors that came together in response to the Sandy Hook tragedy.

A formal announcement will be made in early September by the FCMA relative to Dr. Bruno’s winning this year’s Magida award.
